Verse 8:
"And behold, it is wisdom that this land should be kept as yet from the knowledge of other nations; for behold, many nations would overrun the land, that there would be no place for an inheritance"
And apparently this is the reason why the Americas were not discovered until a long time afterwards.
Verse 26:
"And ye have murmured because he hath been plain unto you. Ye say that he hath used sharpness; ye say that he hath been angry with you; but behold, his sharpness was the sharpness of the power of the word of God, which was in him; and that which ye call anger was the truth, according to that which is in God, which he could not restrain, manifesting boldly concerning your iniquities."
"And ye have murmured because he hath been plain unto you."
This idea that the people dismiss plainness and that they even prefer cryptic messages is repeated other places in the Book of Mormon including in Jacob 4:14.
It says that the Jews despised plain words and searched for things they could not understand.
In a sense this reflects our natural intrigue towards the unknown.
"and that which ye call anger was the truth,"
It is interesting to see how anger is compared to truth. This could be interpreted as righteous rage. But more likely, I think this verse is talking about that sense one gets when they encounter something that is not fair or is not true that makes them tick. In other words, it was the truth of the iniquity that was itching him from the inside, and his inability to hide it made it manifest into anger. This reminds me of the feeling Jeremiah had (Jeremiah 20:9).
